I’ll be speaking with a group of high school juniors and seniors in Reno next week about my role in government. What would you say to the next generation to pique their interest in public service meets web? My first inclination is to hook them in with “how many of you are on Facebook?”, and to their inevitable response tell them that I get to play with social media all day. Or maybe I can lead in with “this is the one field President Obama has mandated”, then share with them the open government/open data initiative. Maybe I should focus on good ole fashioned – public service makes you feel good…hmmmm.
